Beginner Guide

I treated the day-1 credit trail as one Mark Up example from the 1.0 notes, not a promise. The rent ladder and the deed prices are the parts I would actually plan around, because those numbers repeat across the difficulty card and the guide.

The first week

One Mark Up Apprentice example starts at 550 credits with rent due in 6 days and ends day 1 at 598. That path is a single run. A different customer order changes it. Hold 200 for the first rent on day 7. After that the same notes show rent stepping 200, 209, 219, 229, 240. It does not go down. Mark Up allows one missed payment. The second refusal is an eviction.

From day 2 the dumping ground is open. The loop in the notes is: open the shutter, call a customer, read buying or selling plus budget, test the good, sell or refuse, close, pay the night services, sleep.

Starts and difficulty

The launch note lists nine starts. Apprentice is the one marked for new players. Rock Bottom starts at 0 credits. A tenth icon, Junker, is marked work in progress on the 1.0 screen and is not in the official nine.

Night services on Mark Up in the notes: power 5, insurance 8, janitorial 4. Skipping janitorial drops attractiveness 250, then 200, then 175. Paying restores 250.

Difficulty card cross-checked with the 1.0 notes. Sale markup / rent growth / permit / reputation gain and loss.

Buying the shop

Deed prices in the notes: 12,000 on Price Gouge and Mark Up, 24,000 on Thin Margins, 36,000 on Red Ink. The price creeps up by the day. Paying off a loan-shark mortgage is the other buyout. The business permit is the same 500 / 1,500 / 2,000 / 3,000 scale. In the single-source Mark Up log, the mentor warns on day 24 that permits go on sale two weeks later and enforcement starts a week after that. No Permit happens at enforcement without a permit; day 24 is the warning, not an immediate failure.

Security cases in the notes arrest from 300 to 1,499 and execute at 1,500 or more. Faction −100 ends several runs. See reputation for which faction does which.

FAQ

How do I buy the shop?

Save the deed price for your difficulty, or clear the loan-shark mortgage. Both are buyouts in the 1.0 notes.

What kills a new run fastest?

Missing the second rent payment, reaching permit enforcement without a permit, or letting a faction hit −100.
